IPL 2018: 5 unique IPL records to know about

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2018, is all set to get underway on April 7. As such, the excitement seems to be rising by the day. IPL, apart from his fast-paced nature and rollicking game play is often a matter of amazement for its unique records.

Cricket Nostalgia compiled 5 unique records created in the IPL over the years.

Most Runs in an over: Hardik Pandya holds the record for most runs smashed in an over. Playing for Mumbai Indians against Pune, he took 28 runs off an Ashok Dinda over in a match on April 6, 2017 at the MCA Stadium

Most Runs conceded in an innings: Not surprisingly, this record stands in the name of Ishant Sharma. The lanky pacer conceded 0 for 66, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Chennai Super Kings on May 8, 2013.

Hat-trick of hat-tricks: There have been as many as 17 hat-tricks in the Indian Premier League, and one man has taken three of them – veteran leggie Amit Mishra. Yuvraj Singh has two, and rather surprisingly, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma also has one.

On the dot: Praveen Kumar, the accuracy man, has delivered the most dot balls in the tournament. In 420.4 overs that he has bowled, Kumar has 1075 dot balls to his credit.

Striking High: South African all-rounder Chris Morris holds the record for the highest strike rate in an innings. He blasted 38 in 9 balls – strike rate of 422.22 – for Delhi Daredevils against Pune at MCA Stadium on April 11, 2017.
