The Indian Premier League 2018 is all set to kick off from April 7. But, the tournament has already started making news for the right and wrong reasons. Kolkata Knight Riders have signed England all-rounder Tom Curran as the replacement for the injured Mitchell Starc of Australia. 23-year-old Curran has been purchased by KKR for Rs 1 crore.

South African Heinrich Klaasen has replaced banned Australian Steve Smith in Rajasthan Royals. Klaasen, who had a good series against India, was claimed for Rs 50 lakh.

David Warner has been replaced by England opener Alex Hales in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad. He was picked for a base price of Rs 1 crore.

In the aftermath of the ball tampering scandal, Steve Smith and David Warner have been banned from playing for Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. Smith has been replaced by Ajinkya Rahane as Rajasthan Royals captain while Kane Williamson has replaced Warner as SRH skipper

Corey Anderson has replaced Nathan Coulter-Nile in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s squad, after the latter was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Future Group will continue as the Official Partner for the VIVO Indian Premier League for the next three years.

Kings XI Punjab will play four home matches in Indore and three at Mohali. All IPL franchises are required to play four home matches at their home venue. However, owing to the closure of Chandigarh Airport due to expansion work for 20 days in May, the change has been allowed.

Mitchell McClenaghan has replaced Jason Behrendorff in Mumbai Indians squad. Behrendorff has been ruled out with a back problem.

Chennai Super Kings have launched their official mobile app. The app was inaugurated by Ravindra Jadeja in presence of franchisee CEO KS Viswanathan. The app features news, views, analysis, fan zone, and games. Purchase of match tickets and official merchandise are also available.

Delhi Daredevils have begun commencement of online ticket sales. Ticket prices are from Rs 750 to Rs 17,500. The retail counters will start selling tickets from April 4. DD take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Ferozeshah Kotla in their first game on April 21.
