A confident Kings XI Punjab will face an undefeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 16 of the Indian Premier League 2018 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday. This is expected to be a close contest as Punjab won have won two of the three games they have featured in so far.
Kings XI Punjab would be elated after pulling off a heist against Chennai Super Kings despite a stellar effort by MS Dhoni towards the end. Punjab’s win ended CSK’s winning streak and now they would be looking to break Sunrisers’ unbeaten streak as well.
Chris Gayle’s return to the top was the biggest plus for Punjab against Chennai. They would be hoping he continues to shine at the top. The others in the batting department will need to raise their game. Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair and Yuvraj Singh looked good briefly, but could not create a major impact.
Punjab’s bowlers have been quite decent so far. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman has been excellent of all people while Ravichandran Ashwin has done a good job as well. The form of specialist Andrew Tye would be a concern, and while Mohit Sharma went for plenty against Chennai, he also bowled the over that made all the difference.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have been excellent, putting behind the David Warner fiasco. They have done excellent with the ball, restricting Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in the three games so far.
SRH skipper Shikhar Dhawan has been in excellent form, and Wriddhman Saha is trying hard to keep up pace with him. The good news for Hyderabad is that skipper Kane Williamson is also among the runs. With the likes of Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan, their batting is looking impressive.
All-rounder balance is what gives Sunrisers the edge over others. They have Shakib-Al-Hassan who can contribute with both bat and ball. In the bowling, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan are two quality performers.
