Kolkata Knight Risers put up an excellent bowling performance, and backed it up with a competent bowling effort to undo Rajasthan Royals in their own den, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Wednesday in Jaipur. Batting first, Rajasthan managed only 160 for 8 and in-form KKR batting line-up chased that down easily.
Kolkata’s spinners and all-rounder Nitish Rana again made the big difference for the visitors. The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla were brilliant giving away just nine runs in the first three overs. That pretty much set the tempo of the innings.
Royals came back well courtesy skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who took on Sunil Narine and came first. In fact, there was a sequence of four fours in a row as Narine had an off day. At that point, it seemed like Rajasthan were getting back on track. But, opposition skipper Dinesh Karthik pulled off a brilliant run out of Rahane.

Nitish Rana and Tom Curran’s two with wickets each maintained the pressure on Rajasthan as they could never get away. D’Arcy Short top-scored for them with 44, but never looked fluent. It needed a swinging cameo from Jos Buttler to lift them to 160.
Kolkata began poorly in the chase, losing the out-of-form Chris Lynn early, but constant partnerships saw them through. Robin Uthappa made a fluent 48 from 36 balls to set up the chase. Narine again shone, adding 69 with Uthappa.
Skipper Dinesh Karthik (42 not out) and Nitish Rana (35 not out) provided the finishing touches with a 61-run partnership. It was as comprehensive a win for KKR in every aspect.
