With their three-match streak having ended following the loss to Punjab via Gayle storm, Sunrisers Hyderabad would look to get back on track as they take on Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL) match 20 today. Chennai go into the match having clinched a dominating victory over Rajasthan Royals in the previous game.
As things stand, both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings have won three and lost one, and have six points from four games. Whoever wins in the match on Sunday, will thus move to top of the table. The Sunrisers had an excellent start to the IPL campaign with three consecutive wins. It needed a spectacular hundred from Chris Gayle of Kings XI Punjab to halt their winning streak.
Shikhar Dhawan had to retire hurt in the last match after being hit on the elbow. Considering the form he was in, it was a big blow for Sunrisers. Him and captain Kane Williamson remain the two most consistent batsmen in the team. They would expect runs from the likes of Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan as well.
Sunrisers bowling has been their strength in the tournament. Although Rashid Khan was taken apart by Gayle in the previous game, he is good enough to make a comeback. In Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul, Billy Stanlake and Shakib-al-Hasan, they have an excellent bowling attack, all of whom have been in form.
Chennai Super Kings began the tournament with two sizzling wins, before being shocked by Kings XI Punjab. But, they brought their campaign back on track with a 64-run thumping of Rajasthan Royals. Opener Shane Watson turned back the clock with a smashing hundred against his former franchise. The all-rounder has delivered with the ball as well.
The all-round strength of Chennai means they can match Hyderabad when it comes to being among the most balanced sides. With the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina, they would be confident of putting up a good show against Hyderabad.
