An underwhelmed Rajasthan Royals will once again come face-to-face with Kings XI Punjab in match number 40 of the Indian Premier League 2018 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, just days after going down to the same team. Rajasthan need to win everything from here and will take confidence from the fact that they have never lost to Punjab at home.
To stay alive, Rajasthan will need to get their act together with both bat and ball. Among other things, they need to figure out where skipper Ajinkya Rahane will bat. Sanju Samson needs to find his form back while Jos Buttler needs to continue his great run at the top of the order.
The bowling really has been a whimper for the hosts. Take out KK Gowtham consistency and Jofra Archer’s pace, and they had nothing really to write home about. Jaydev Unadkat has proved to be a futile expensive buy, and the same can be said about Ben Stokes.
CN’s Dream XI for Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab: Ajinkya Rahane (C), Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler (W), Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sanju Samson, D’Arcy Short, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Jaydev Unadkat
Punjab too have had their shares of struggles. But, they have found heroes to bail them out more often than not. KL Rahul once again stood out against Rajasthan with a sizzling 54-ball 84. Chris Gayle having a rare failure, but Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair definitely need to do better.
Like Sunrisers, Kings’ bowling has been impressive. Mujeeb Ur Rahman remained on top of his game with 3 for 27. Andrew Tye and Axar Patel provided him very good support while captain Ravichandran Ashwin also kept things tight. Ankit Rajpoot was expensive again, but Punjab would be confident of him finding his groove again.
