Mumbai Indians take on Kings XI Punjab in match number 50 of the Indian Premier League 2018 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Punjab had a superb start to the series. Since, they have registered five losses in six matches. Mumbai, after another poor start, had three wins in a row, but the loss to Rajasthan Royals could yet dent their chances of qualification badly.
The only way Mumbai can progress is by winning their remaining games, and hope the other equations go in their favour. Their batting has been poor if you take out Suryakumar Yadav. To some extent, Evin Lewis has also done well. But, skipper Rohit Sharma and the rest haven’t chipped in as expected.
In the all-round department, the Pandya brothers have impressed in recent games. But, Mayank Markande clearly seems to have gone off the boil. Jasprit Bumrah has done good job as the spearhead, but of late he has struggled a bit. Mitchell McClenaghan and JP Duminy have been decent, but nothing extraordinary.

Punjab have been all about Lokesh Rahul. Even as he has single-handedly been prolific, the rest have been a distant second. For a while, Chris Gayle rocked, but he has since fallen away. In fact, Punjab have had to depend on skipper Ravichandran Ashwin late in the order to rescue them.
Their bowling too has lost teeth following the loss of Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Andrew Tye has done well in quite a few games. Mohit Sharma and Barinder Sran have also competed. But, it has just not quite come together.
