Chennai Super Kings will take on Kings XI Punjab in match number 56 of the Indian Premier League 2018 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday. Chennai are through to the playoffs, but were indifferent against Delhi, so would like to register a win against Punjab. The Kings, on the other hand, need to win to keep alive their marginal playoff chances.
Chennai’s batting came undone against Delhi rather surprisingly. Trent Boult and leggies Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra combined to restrict Chennai in the chase on sluggish pitch. So good were they, even MS Dhoni struggled to get the big hits. Chennai would be keen to correct the flaws against Punjab.
In contrast, Punjab are in massive trouble. With 12 points, and a terrible run rate, even a win against Chennai might not be enough. But, they would want to give themselves that outside chance. KL Rahul and Andrew Tye have been exceptional, holding the Orange and Purple cap respectively. Can then continue their sensational run?
