Pakistan were bowled out for 174 after winning the toss and electing to bat first on day one of the second Test against England at Headingley, Leeds.
Unlike at Lord’s, England’s pacer lifted their game this time, with James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes all claiming three wickets each. Pakistan crumbled to 79 for 7 before a half-century from Shabad Khan rescued them. Haris Sohail and Asad Shafiq both got into the 20s, but failed to carry on.
England began well with Keaton Jennings and Alastair Cook featuring in a half-century stand for the opening wicket. Pakistan will need to make early inroads on day two to stay in the game.
