After two losses to hosts Netherlands, Ireland got things right third time lucky as they overcame Scotland by 46 runs in the third game of the tri-series at Deventer.
Game four will be played between the same teams at the same venue. Will fortunes change?
The victory for Ireland at Deventer on Saturday was set up by two brilliant knocks, Andy Balbirnie’s smashing 74 and skipper Gary Wilson’s chirpy half-century towards the end. There was also a rapid fifty from Paul Stirling at the start, which set up the innings perfectly.
Having posted 200 plus, Ireland’s bowlers also held themselves up well, George Dockrell, in particular, shining with 2 for 15. They would be keen to carry on with the great all-round show in game number four as well.
Scotland would be keen for their bowlers to get their act together. They were just not in sync on Saturday. They started off well in the chase, but could not maintain the momentum. The trio of George Munsey, skipper Kyle Coetzer and Richie Berrington will need support from the rest.
